Gaithersburg City Council members will meet behind closed doors on Oct. 6 to select a new mayor from the five-member City Council. Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz has submitted his conditional resignation effective Nov. 10 because he is running unopposed in the Nov. 4 general election for the District 3 County Council seat. Gaithersburg leaders will announce the city’s new mayor on Oct. 7. Henry Marraffa, another Gaithersburg City Councilmember, has publicly said that he would like to be mayor, too.
