Be My Designated Driver

In an effort to help prevent drunk driving in Montgomery County during the New Year’s holiday and beyond, the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) is promoting local drunk driving prevention programs.

The “Be My Designated Driver” (Be My DD) program is a service offering an alternative transportation solution.  The program provides professional and experienced drivers dressed in formal business attire. Drivers are personally interviewed, background screened and insured. A personal driver service, a pick-up service and designated drivers for events are offered.  DLC has partnered with BeMyDD to offer Montgomery County participants a free $25 annual membership.

BeMyDD encourages adults to plan out their evening. Reservations can be made online by visiting www.BeMyDD.com/MOCODLC or calling 1.877.U-BEMYDD (877-823-6933). BeMyDD also offers a mobile app.

DLC has also been a long-time supporter of the Washington Regional Alcohol Program’s (WRAP’s) SoberRide, offering free taxi rides – up to $30 – in the Washington Metro area for adults, 21 and older, from 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day.  For more information, visit www.wrap.org/soberride.

“The Department of Liquor Control is excited to be able to promote these valuable resources to consumers,” said DLC Division Chief Kathie Durbin. “We are committed to doing all we can to help adults drinking alcohol to plan out their evening.”

For program information, email dlc@montgomerycountymd.gov or call Emily DeTitta, licensure and outreach manager at 240-777-1904.
