The Mayor and City Council of Gaithersburg and the City’s Educational Enrichment Committee presented representatives from Diamond Elementary School with a GREAT award Monday during the council’s meeting.

Diamond Elementary School’s award celebrates its Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Student Government Association (SGA) for activities that encourage and demonstrate the pillars of CHARACTER COUNTS!

This year, Diamond Elementary School’s SGA and PTA have organized food drives, a walk for the homeless and a Dolphin Dash that helps those in the Diamond Elementary School community live healthier lives. Students also raised $4,000 through Jump Rope for Heart, and the SGA created an Earth Day video to promote the importance of recycling.

Diamond Elementary is at 4 Marquis Drive in Gaithersburg.
