Detectives Release Photo from Wheaton Bank Robbery

Montgomery County police detectives released a surveillance photograph of a man wanted in connection with the April 13 robbery of a PNC Bank inside a Giant Food grocery store in Wheaton.

About 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, Wheaton police district officers responded to the bank inside the grocery store at 2900 University Boulevard West, police said.

Detectives believe the man entered the bank and handed a note to the teller demanding money. The man obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. The man was last seen on foot near the 11100 block of Veirs Mill Road, police said.

Anyone with information about the man or the bank robbery is asked to call the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5100.

To be eligible for a reward, tipsters may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment.

Tipsters will remain anonymous.

    That man possibly could be from Kenya or related to a Kenyan. He is wearing a soccer jersey for Gor Mahia Football Club based in Nairobi. Those shirts are not sold internationally. Circulate that photo in an area with lots of kenyans and you will get him.
