Detectives Investigating Fatal Shooting of Silver Spring Man in Adelphi

Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a Silver Spring man in Adelphi.

According to a press release, on April 9th, around 6:00 am, patrol officers responded to the 8600 block of 20th Avenue for a welfare check. The victim who has been identified as 20-year-old Merlin Ramirez-Lara of Piney Branch Road was discovered outside suffering from gunshot wounds. Ramirez-Lara was pronounced dead on the scene. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and determine a possible motive. Authorities do not believe this was a random crime.
