Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services Spokesperson Pete Piringer said a large house fire on Friday night at 7704 Yellowstone Way in Derwood caused an estimated $600,000 in damage.

Piringer said the cause of the fire was discarded smoking materials in a potted plant.

More than 75 firefighters responded to the fire at a large home on Yellowstone Way at about 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 20. The residents inside got out without injuries, but it is an icy scene as temperatures dip into the single digits.

According to tweets from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer, the injured firefighters will be okay.

This is not correct, no one were in that house that time. The female owner was visiting her neighbor only two houses away on same end of the street. I saw her coming out of her neighbor’s house md rushed to her home, she was being comforted by her neighbors. That house is a beautiful home, with attached to the two garage with loft, and swimming pool at the backyard. The fire started on the back of the house on the roof. Many firefighters slipped over the ice, which came from the firehose of water.,, those water quickly become ice everywhere…

Here the report of cause of fire is…..The smoking materials were thrown into a planter on the outside of the home. The wind caught to the materials and then fanned into a flame, according to officials. The flame then crawled up the side of the house into the attic of the house.
