Department of Liquor Control Announces Expansion of Designated Driving Program

designated driverThe Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) is expanding its partnership with Be My Designated Driver (BeMyDD) and Jack Daniel’s for its Spring Designated Driver Program. The purpose of the expanded program is to prevent drunk driving in the County.

According to a news release, the Spring Designated Drive Program will be offering educational materials and free $20 gift cards towards a designated drive through BeMyDD’s mobile app. The app can be downloaded on smartphones and allows users to reserve a designated driver.

The program is a continuation of the 2015 Holiday Rides Campaign.

“Our holiday program reached thousands of people and introduced them to a convenient way to find a safe ride home,” Kathie Durbin, division chief of licensure regulation and education, said. “We’re happy to partner with BeMyDD and Jack Daniel’s again and to expand the program beyond liquor stores to our county’s bars and restaurants where people can immediately take advantage of the program’s benefits,” she said.

Arthur Simanovsky is the president and CEO of BeMyDD.

“Warm weather means people spend more time out enjoying themselves, meeting up with friends, and traveling,” Simanovsky said. “Spring is the perfect time to remind everyone that there are easy, affordable alternatives to getting behind the wheel,” he said.

Pat Belanger is the on premise market manager at Jack Daniel’s parent corporation, Brown-Forman.

“If you choose to drink this spring, please do so responsibly. The SpringDD Program is a fundamental way to connect people with services that can make responsibility easy, and we’re excited to be able to partner with BeMyDD and Montgomery County DLC to make this happen,” Belanger said.

The SpringDD Program was launched on March 14 and will run through May 31. The BeMyDD app is available for both iOS and Android and can be downloaded through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or BeMyDD’s website.
