Day One of Sports Backpack Journalism

Summer is here and that means it’s time for MCM’s Summer Backpack Journalism Academy! The first session began today and we have a great class of budding sports journalists.  This is the first time we are devoting a full session to sports and it is thrilling! I am so excited to see how their sports stories turn out. They have a lot of great ideas. I love the fact that they were already familiar with sports news and had an idea of what they wanted to cover. The conversations were great. We even had a visit from Brandy Simms, sports reporter for the Sentinel. He had a lot of great tips and information for our newest sports journalists.  All in all, it was a wonderful first day and I cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings.
