Day of Service (Photos)

Encouraged by President Barack Obama, area Montgomery County residents participated in the National Day of Service on Saturday, January 19.

The International Cultural Center hosted the Interfaith Youth Against Hunger event where residents of different faiths gathered to make over 700 sandwiches for homeless shelters around the county.

The children made signs for the shelters with encouraging messages for the homeless like, “keep faith, stay positive.”

The ICC hosts a sandwich making event every month, but the National Day of Service provided them with their largest crowd of volunteers yet.

MCM’s Kasey Cunningham captured these photos of the event.
