A Busy Day in Gaithersburg

First Photos

As the sun started to rise over Montgomery County, the first photos documenting a “Day in the Life of Montgomery County” began to arrive from Bethesda, Darnestown, Derwood, Potomac, Rockville and Washington Grove.

It’s Official

The Montgomery County Council issued a proclamation today, formally declaring April 20th as a, “Day in the Life of Montgomery County.”

Merlyn Reineke, the executive director of Montgomery Community Media, accepted the proclamation for the 5th annual event, and he invited everyone in Montgomery County to take part in the 24-hour photo project that begins at midnight on Thursday.

According to Reineke, over 1,300 photos and videos were received on a single day last year, and organizers want to get even more photos this year. Reineke was accompanied by attorney Roger Hayden of Hayden Legal Services, who is sponsoring this year’s #ditl event.

Earth Month

The month of April is also known as Earth Month.

Over the past four years, Montgomery Community Media has celebrated the “Day in the Life of Montgomery County” event during Earth Month, and we have received hundreds of photos that illustrate how much care and pride our county’s residents have for their natural environment.

National Pet Day

Today, April 11th, is also known as National Pet Day.  In recognition of National Pet Day, we are sharing some pet photos that we have received over the past four years during our annual photo project, “Day in the Life of Montgomery County.” We hope you will join us on April 20, for the 5th annual, #ditl #MoCo event.

Show Us Your Pet

The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center is the place to go if you are looking to adopt a pet.

Joanne Heller is the foster and rescue care coordinator at the MCASAC. She works everyday to find good homes for pets up for adoption.

Carol Fuster is a foster pet parent. She recently shared a day in the life of nine-year- old Freddy, who she has fostered for two months now. Watch how Freddy follows Carol from room to room in the video, below:

On April 20, the MCASAC is helping MCM celebrate a “Day in the Life of Montgomery County.” Recently, some of the animals up for adoption (and there are more than just dogs and cats looking for a good home) modeled our #ditl #MoCo bandanas to help us get the word out about our upcoming photo project.
