Middle School in Damascus Reports Positive COVID-19 Test

A person who was at John T. Baker Middle School in Damascus on March 2 has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a March 6 letter from Principal Louise Worthington to the school’s parents and families.

Worthington wrote that those who had close contact with this individual have been notified and advised to quarantine for 14 days. Worthington wrote that those who were not notified directly do not need to quarantine. However, she wrote, “We encourage you to closely monitor your child for symptoms of COVID-19.”

Under Montgomery County Public Schools’ policy, the person was not identified.

This is the first reported positive test since MCPS began opening up its classrooms March 1.
