Damascus Defeats Sherwood 42-7 at Home under Friday Night Lights

The game between host Damascus High School and visiting Sherwood High School was an early season match up of two Montgomery County teams ranked in the Top 20 by the Washington Post.

The game began with several miscues on both sides until a 58 yard run from scrimmage gave the Swarmin’ Hornets their first touchdown.  Breaking off the left side of scrimmage #3 Javier Smith flew down the sideline to the delight of a huge Damascus home crowd.  Sherwood could not sustain any offensive momentum and had difficulty containing Damascus through out the contest. Damascus was running on all cylinders the entire night and lead 42-0 until a late Sherwood touchdown completed the nights scoring ending in a 42-7 win for the Swarmin’ Hornets.

There is a lot of football to be played this season and it comes down to building off a victory for Damascus and learning from a loss for Sherwood.  Both teams have high goals for the upcoming season.
