Crown to Dedicate Sculpture
The first piece of public art at Crown, a 182-acre mixed-use community in Gaithersburg is scheduled to be dedicated during a ceremony with the artist and city officials on Nov. 18.
Inner Being is a 750-pound bronze sculpture created by Charles Strain, a Missouri-based sculptor whose work explores the fusion of man and nature, according to a press release from Tammy Murphy, spokeswoman for Crown. The piece stands more than 8 feet tall.
The dedication ceremony is expected to take place at 1 p.m. at the entrance to Crown West on Decoverly Drive at Fields Road in Gaithersburg.
Crown is located on 182-acres off Sam Eig Highway. When complete, Crown will include up to 2,250 residential units and 320,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, including the mixed-use neighborhood Downtown Crown, which features 260,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space, according to the release.
