COVID-19 Update: State Hospitalizations Below 500, County Positive Testing Rate Below 7%

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics

On Monday morning the Maryland Department of Health reported 14,675 cases of COVID-19 in Montgomery County, which is an increase of 68 from the 14,607 cases reported Sunday.

Since the first case in March, 697 county residents have died from COVID-19. This is an increase of one death since Sunday.

More Montgomery County residents have died due to COVID-19 than any other jurisdiction in the state. Prince George’s has lost 657 residents, the second-highest number in the state.

The positivity rate of 6.52% reported Monday is the second-highest in the state, behind Prince George’s at 7.52%. For the tenth straight day, the rate has remained below 7%.

Maryland COVID-19 Statistics

As of Monday morning, there have been 67,254 confirmed cases throughout the state. That is an increase of 477 in the last 24 hours. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 3,048 Marylanders, six since Sunday.

Currently, 447 Marylanders are hospitalized with COVID-19. Of those patients, 160 are in intensive care, two less than Sunday. This is the fourth straight day hospitalizations have remained below 500.

The testing positivity rate of 4.84% was reported Monday by the state health department. This is the fourth day the rate remained below 5%. Prince George’s County has the highest positivity rate at 7.52%, Montgomery County the second-highest at 6.52%.

Statewide, a total of 19,191 cases and 1,241 deaths involve the state’s African American community.
