COVID-19 Update: More than 14% of County Residents Fully Vaccinated

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for March 25

Montgomery County health officials reported Thursday that 14.3% of the county residents are fully vaccinated which means they have either received two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose of the Johnson and Johnson single-dose vaccine. Also, 27.8% of the county residents have received their first dose of one of the two-dose vaccines.

The Maryland Department of Health reported 161 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Thursday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is currently 65,986.

Montgomery County recorded no new coronavirus-related fatalities Thursday. The death toll remains at 1,407, the highest in the state.

As of March 22, there are 99 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Montgomery County. This number has plateaued.

The county has a rolling seven-day average of 2.93% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.02 from Wednesday’s rate of 2.95%. The positivity rate is lower than the rate in 20 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions. The county’s positivity rate has been below 3% for 10 days since March 15.

With 1,417 COVID-19 related fatalities, Montgomery County leads the state in fatalities but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has the most coronavirus cases in the state with 76,950 cases and 1,349 fatalities.

Somerset County located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore has the most cases per capita cases in the state with 96.2 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 92 cases per 1,000 residents.

The Maryland Department of Health reported Thursday that 13.8% of Marylanders are fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Of those vaccinated, 12.8% received two doses of either the Pizer or Moderna vaccines and 1.0% received the Johnson and Johnson single-dose vaccine.

Thursday the state recorded 1,382 new infections bringing the state’s cumulative case count to 403,982.

There are 919 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 across the state as of Thursday morning. Hospitalizations have been increasing since March 12.

Thursday the state recorded 3 newly reported deaths, bringing the state death toll to 8,032.

The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 4.59% for positive COVID-19 tests Thursday. There is no change from Tuesday’s rate.
