COVID-19 Testing Available This Weekend for MCPS Staff, Students and Family Members
As Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) prepares to phase students into school buildings beginning Monday, March 1, the county Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) will provide free COVID-19 nasal swab testing this weekend, available to all MCPS staff, students and family members.
“MCPS is committed to a path that returns our students to school buildings as quickly as possible over the next few weeks and lessens the impact of COVID-19,” Superintendent Dr. Jack Smith said in a letter earlier this month. On Monday, MCPS will begin a phased-in return to in-person learning, beginning with students in specific special education and career technology programs.
DHHS has provided various locations and times for MCPS community members interested in getting tested before returning back to school on March 1.
Testing will be held at the following locations;
- Stedwick Community Center
- Benjamin Gaither Center
- Rockville United Methodist Church
- Wheaton Recreation Center and Library
- Good Hope Community Center
- Mary’s Center
- Germantown Community Center
- Saint Catherine Laboure Catholic Church
- Proyecto Salud Clinic
- Takoma Park Recreation Center
- Angarai Testing Center
The tests will not require members of MCPS to provide a government ID or doctor’s order. More information regarding times and locations can be found on the Montgomery County website. Testing clinics will be held from Feb. 26-28.
County-supported testing clinics are averaging three to five days for lab results. Individuals that have been tested will be notified by email or text message.
