COVID-19 Test Hotline Will Help Residents Without Insurance, Primary Care Provider

A new COVID-19 test hotline launched Thursday for Montgomery County residents. This new hotline is an effort to remove the obstacles and barriers that some residents face when trying to get tested for coronavirus. County Executive Marc Elrich says this will help meet the communities testing needs which is an important factor in getting the spread of the virus under control.

The phone number of the hotline is 240-777-1755.

Montgomery County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles says a lot of residents have not been getting tested because they do not have access to a primary care provider. The cost for the test, and urgent care visiting fees has also been an issue for some residents. County leaders say this new hotline will provide access to residents regardless of insurance status, and relations to a primary care provider.

Watch Gayles and Elrich explain how the hotline is works:

Over the past several days, health officials say some individuals have been sent to a Montgomery Cares clinic for screenings and referrals.
