COVID-19 Numbers: More Than 50% of County Residents Have Received First Dose

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for April 27

The Maryland Department of Health reported 52 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Tuesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 69,528.

As of April 19, the county reported that 99 people were hospitalized with COVID-19.

Montgomery County recorded one new coronavirus-related fatality Tuesday, bringing the death toll to 1,472.

The county has a rolling seven-day average of 2.15% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.30 from Monday’s average rate of 2.45%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 22 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.

Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services clinics are currently vaccinating residents age 16 and older. The first step to receive a vaccination through a county-run clinic is to preregister for the vaccine online.

According to Montgomery County health officials, 34.2% of the county’s residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19; 51.2% have received their first dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna two-dose vaccine.

Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities (1,472 deaths) but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has 1,406 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 82,515 cases. Baltimore County has the second highest fatalities with 1,425 and 62,832 cumulative COVID-19 cases.

Somerset County on the Eastern Shore has the highest cases per capita at 98.9 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 96.4 cases per 1,000 residents.

Tuesday, the state recorded 677 new infections, bringing the state’s cumulative case count to 444,491.

1,130 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 across the state.

Maryland recorded 18 new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday bringing the death toll to 8,501.

The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 4.04% for positive COVID-19 tests Tuesday. This is a decrease of 0.47 from Monday’s rate of 4.51%.

All Marylanders ages 16 and older are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine at the state’s mass vaccination sites. The first step to receive a vaccine at any of the state’s mass vaccination sites is to pre-register online at covidvax.maryland.gov  or by calling the state’s COVID-19 vaccination support center at 1-865-MC-GOVAX.

According to the Maryland Department of Health, 28.047% of the state’s residents have received two doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine; and 2.993% have received the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
