COVID-19 Numbers: 16.4% of County Residents are Fully Vaccinated

Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for March 30

The Maryland Department of Health reported 98 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Tuesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 66,589.

As of March 28, the county reported that 95 people were hospitalized with COVID-19.

Montgomery County recorded no new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday, therefore the death toll in the county remains at 1,422.

The county has a rolling seven-day average of 3.34% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is an increase of 0.19 from Monday’s average rate of 3.15%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 17 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.

Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services clinics are currently vaccinating Priority Groups 1A (all tiers), 1B (all tiers) and 1C (tier 1: ages 65-74). All residents age 16 and older may preregister for the vaccine.  According to Montgomery County health officials, 16.4% of the county’s residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19; 30.9% have received their first dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna two-dose vaccine.

Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has 1,357 fatalities and the most coronavirus cases in the state with 77,820 cases.

Somerset County on the Eastern Shore has the highest cases per capita at 96.6 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 92.5 cases per 1,000 residents.

Tuesday, the state recorded 903 new infections, bringing the state’s cumulative case count to 409,978.

1,029 patients are hospitalized with COVID-19 across the state.

Maryland recorded 13 new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday bringing the death toll to 8,088.

The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 5.24% for positive COVID-19 tests Tuesday. This is an increase of 0.25 from Monday’s rate of 4.99%. this is the first time the rate has been greater than 5.0% since Feb. 11 when it was 5.08%.

Tuesday, Maryland entered Phase 2B of its vaccination plan making all Marylanders ages 16 and older with underlying medical conditions that increase the risk for severe COVID-19
illness eligible to sign up to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. According to the Maryland Department of Health, 14.359% of the state’s residents have received two doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine; and 1.169% have received the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.  Eligible residents can preregister at covidvax.maryland.gov or by phone at 1-855-634-6829.
