COVID-19 Cases Near 1,000 in Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities

The Maryland Department of Health released the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the state Tuesday.

So far, there have been 4,406 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities and 471 deaths as reported on the Maryland Department of Health website.

 

According to the Maryland Health Care Commission online records, Montgomery County has 84 facilities for seniors, which includes 34 nursing homes and 50 assisted living facilities. Currently, 41 of these facilities have cases of COVID-19.

Montgomery County nursing homes and assisted living facilities have 990 cases and 120 deaths. As of Tuesday morning, there were 4,003 cases and 201 deaths throughout Montgomery County.  Therefore, nearly one-quarter of the cases and more than half of the deaths involve residents in senior facilities.
