County to Resume Collecting Late Parking Fees In August

Montgomery County will resume collecting late fees on parking tickets starting August 1, after months of suspended payments due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) stopped collecting late fees on parking tickets in March 2020 in order to prevent “undue hardship” on customers. Late fees accumulated on parking tickets between Jan. 1, 2020 through June 30, 2020 will be waived as long as the tickets are paid by August 1.

If a ticket is not paid by August 1, late fees will kick in starting August 15 with a $25 fee. A second fee will incur 45 days later if the first one is not already paid. According to MCDOT, late parking fines will only impact “outstanding citations which have not already requested court or made their payment.”
