County Seeks Community Input with Public Safety Survey

In response to the many incidents of police using excessive force across the country, County Executive Mark Elrich created the Reimagining Public Safety Task Force.

The County Executive is asking residents to complete a survey about public safety in the county. The function of the survey, which is open until Nov. 14,  is to gather community feedback on policing effectiveness in Montgomery County.

Effective Law Enforcement For All (ELE4A) is the consultant group that oversees the Reimagining Public Safety Task Force with independent audits of the Montgomery County Police Department. Its task is to advise the County Government on focusing its priorities on making Montgomery County communities safer by being more inclusive with residents’ input.

ELE4A is an organization that teams experts in community policing and racial disparity, civil rights attorneys, community engagement professionals, and innovative data managers to help municipalities revamp law enforcement.

There will be a community forum to present and discuss the results of the survey with County Executive Elrich on Thursday, Dec. 3.
