County Records 166 New COVID-19 Cases, 9 Deaths Wednesday
Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for Feb. 10
The Maryland Department of Health reported 166 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Wednesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 61,001.
Montgomery County recorded nine new coronavirus-related fatalities Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 1,316.
As of Wednesday, 16 schools in the state are reporting COVID-19 cases, three are located in Montgomery County. They include:
- Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville reports three cases.
- St. Raphael School in Rockville reports nine cases.
- The Primary Day School in Bethesda reports six cases.
The county has a rolling seven-day average of 4.64% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.5 from Tuesday’s average rate of 5.14%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 17 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.
With 1,316 fatalities, Montgomery County leads the state in total COVID-19 related fatalities but not in total cases. Prince George’s County has the most coronavirus cases in the state with 70,244 cases and 1,244 fatalities.
Somerset County located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore has the most cases per capita with 90.6 cases per 1,000 residents. Allegany County in the western region of the state has the second-highest cases per capita at 89.9 cases per 1,000 residents.

Wednesday the state recorded 1,137 new infections bringing the state’s cumulative case count to 366,666.
There are currently 1,282 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 across the state as of Wednesday morning. This is nearly 700 fewer hospitalizations than the pandemic high of 1,957 that occurred on Jan. 11

Wednesday the state recorded 33 newly reported deaths, bringing the state death toll to 7,267.
The state reported a rolling seven-day average of 5.32% for positive COVID-19 tests Wednesday. This is a decrease of 0.46 from Tuesday’s rate of 5.78%.
