County Provides More Than $28 Million in Rent Relief Assistance; More Funds Available

Montgomery County has provided more than $28 million in rent relief assistance since May of 2020 – supporting about 5,600 households, according to County Executive Marc Elrich. Local leaders say there’s more funding available, and another 2,100 active applications are currently being reviewed.

The COVID-19 Rent Relief Program provides short-term rental assistance to eligible households who have experienced lost income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and have fallen behind on rent.

Elrich explains how much rent relief funding is released each week and county efforts to prevent evictions.

Click here to apply for the COVID-19 Rent Relief program. County officials say there is no set deadline for application submissions. Applications will be accepted until all program funds are fully expended.
