Montgomery County Executive Isiah Legget will be joined by County Councilmembers Nancy Floreen, Tom Hucker and George Levanthal for the opening of Progress Place in Silver Spring on Saturday Dec. 10, according to a press release.

Progress Place is a Montgomery County owned facility that has two primary programs: Shepherd’s Table and Community Vision.

Shepherd’s Table is a nonprofit organization in Silver Spring supported by volunteers, religious organizations, businesses and individual donors. Their mission is to provide help to people who are in need by providing basic services including meals, social services, medical support and clothing.

Community Vision provides daily services critical to the safety and well-being of homeless men and women in Montgomery County. Community Vision will provide support, advocacy, education and training for the homeless in Montgomery County.

Progress Place is also the site of 21 personal living quarters, providing permanent supportive housing for vulnerable and chronically homeless men and women.
