County Offices Closed on Feb. 14

Montgomery County Government will be closed on Friday, February 14. Essential personnel must report. Government facilities will not be open to the public. The County Executive is continuing the state of General Emergency through Friday at midnight.

Snow Emergency

County officials remind residents that a Snow Emergency Declaration is also in effect for Montgomery County, which prohibits parking along routes signed and marked as “Snow Emergency Route.” Vehicles parked on emergency routes will be ticketed and towed. Residents are urged to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.

Parking

Parking in County-owned parking garages and lots is free on Friday. County officials urge residents to move their vehicles off roads if possible to allow plows to clear the snow.

Ride On

Ride On will operate under an S Service Plan on Friday, February 14. Under the S Plan, the first and last trips for most of Ride On’s 78 routes will depart as close to their normal schedules as possible. However, because of road conditions, the buses will not be able to adhere to their scheduled departure and arrival times throughout the day. Instead, service will be provided every 30 to 60 minutes on most routes. Passengers should be aware that there could be detours on hills or other locations where driving is particularly hazardous.

Solid Waste/Recycling

The County’s Transfer Station will be open during normal operating hours on Friday.

Solid waste and recycling collections originally scheduled for Thursday and Friday this week are cancelled. The next collections will occur on Tuesday because Monday is a holiday. Under the holiday slide schedule, Monday’s collections will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday’s on Wednesday, Wednesday’s on Thursday, Thursday’s collections on Friday and Friday’s collections on Saturday.
