County Honors Holocaust Victims with Remembrance Day Proclamation (VIDEO)

County Council officially proclaimed April 12 as Holocaust Remembrance Day in Montgomery County and urged residents to remain “vigilantes to the principles of justice.”

“Our awareness of history is certainly more important today; certainly as important as it ever was,”  said Montgomery County Council President George Leventhal.

Members of all faith communities are also invited to honor Holocaust victims at a commemoration on April 12 at 3:30 p.m. hosted by Congregation Har Shalom.

The event will feature lighting the Memorial Candle, Kaddish, reflection, music, poetry and address offered by Rabbi Andrew Baker, director of International Jewish Affairs at the American Jewish Committee.
