Officials Urge Congress to Avoid Sequester (Photos & Video)
Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, Prince Georges County Executive Rushern Baker and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman are urging Congress to find a way to avoid the sequester.
The three county executives held a news conference on Feb. 19 at the Executive Office Building in Rockville. They were joined by several representatives from area chambers of commerce and Montgomery County Council President Nancy Navarro.
The leaders provided data and stats highlighting how sequester would have an adverse impact on local economies in Maryland by cutting federal funds and severely impacting federal employees, federal contractors, education, social services and many other areas. They also said they want the average citizen to understand how serious the situation is for our local economy. You can watch it here.
