Montgomery County Executive, Ike Leggett, will present awards to eight community leaders to recognize their contributions to the county’s arts and cultural community at the 2017 County Executive’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities on Nov. 6.

The ceremony, which started in 2002, honors the work of individuals who have made an impact in the community through arts and culture, according to a news release.

Leggett and and his wife, Catherine Leggett, will present these awards during a special ceremony that will include performances by Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras of Strathmore, Flying V Theatre, Metropolitan Youth Ballet, Bel Cantanti Opera, Jazz Encounters, and a screening from Gandhi Brigade Youth Media.

“We are thrilled to honor these incredibly gifted artists and scholars and appreciate the power of the arts and humanities to bring grace, hope, understanding and perspective to our world,” Suzan Jenkins, CEO of the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, said.  “By celebrating these eight recipients, we celebrate all that is right and beautiful in our community.”

The 2017 County Executive’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities will be held at the Round House Theater, 4545 East-West Highway in Bethesda from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  This event is free and open to the public. Ticket reservations are required and can be made online here.
