County Executive Responds to Council Approval of FY15 Budget

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett released the following statement on the County Council’s approval of the FY15 budget:

“Today, the Montgomery County Council approved the fiscal year 2015 budget. I thank the Council for their hard work on this important task. Balancing the needs of our residents and businesses with the resources available is never easy and is made more difficult by our nation’s still-slow economic recovery.

I want to especially thank Council President Craig Rice for his leadership and collaboration.

The budget as passed probably reflects 99 percent of what I recommended to the Council in March. It continues to invest in education, strengthens public safety and adds to our already existing efforts to help the most vulnerable in our midst, especially seniors and youth. It holds the line on taxes while making County government more responsive and more accountable and helping to create the jobs of the future.

I look forward to working together closely with the Council as we meet the challenges of the future and work toward our common goal of making a good County even better.”
