County Executive Ike Leggett’s Statement on Washington Adventist Hospital Move to White Oak (PHOTO)

Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett released a statement regarding the Maryland Health Care Commission’s decision to give Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park a ‘Certificate of Need’ to relocate to White Oak.

“I am delighted by the recommended decision of the Maryland Health Care Commission today to award a ‘Certificate of Need’ to Washington Adventist Hospital for the relocation of their acute care hospital from their current Takoma Park campus to the White Oak area off Route 29.

This decision will not only strengthen access to health care for residents in northeast Montgomery County. As part of the White Oak Gateway Master Plan, it will add a synergy to the Gateway area that will boost important research, good jobs, and investment. The White Oak Gateway project is a key piece in my plan to add 100,000 new jobs to the County – providing more opportunity and boosting our tax base.

I will work closely with Takoma Park during this transition, supporting the parts of Washington Adventist’s operations that will remain in place once the hospital itself moves.”
