County Encourages Local Businesses to Be Active (Photo)

Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett April 15 joined local chamber and business support organization executives and board members, Montgomery County Department of Economic Development (DED) Director Steve Silverman and other representatives of the local business community to officially launch the Increase Your Business Strength local marketing campaign.

“We are excited to spearhead the County’s first-ever targeted, joint marketing campaign designed specifically to increase membership in our many great local chambers of commerce and other business membership organizations,” said Leggett.

To support this effort, DED initiated a local marketing campaign in conjunction with nearly 20 local business membership organizations. The main marketing components include ads on some 50 Ride-On buses throughout the County, two-sided poster board cards for distribution by participating chambers and business organizations, and a dedicated website – MontgomeryBizStrength.com – hosted by DED.

“This is a great campaign to drive business within Montgomery County,” said Carol Plummer, executive managing director, eWomenNetwork, Montgomery County Chapter. “In particular, we hope it motivates local women business owners and entrepreneurs to join an organization like ours to take advantage of resources and support to help them grow and succeed.”

A key component of DED’s FY2014-2015 strategic plan is to help increase membership in local business organizations, particularly those geared towards women and minorities.

“The main message we want to convey to our business community via this campaign is join your local chamber or any local business support organization today,” said Silverman. “Membership allows business owners to network with one another, develop leads, learn from targeted seminars and programs, and help shape business-friendly public policy.”
