County Council to Hold Five Budget Hearings on Proposed FY 2018 Budget, Sign Up to Testify Now

The Montgomery County Council will hold five public hearings next month to receive feedback on County Executive Ike Leggett’s recommended Montgomery County’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 Operating Budget.

More than 150 people are expected to provide feedback on the budget during the five hearings, which are scheduled April 4 – 6.

Over the next two months, the Council and its six committees will analyze the recommendations and will adopt the FY18 County budget in late May. The budget goes into effect on July 1.

The public hearings are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4; at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5; and at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 6. All hearings will be held in the Third Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Avenue in Rockville.

The hearings will be televised live by County Cable Montgomery (CCM—Cable Channel 6 on Comcast and RCN, Channel 30 on Verizon) and also will be available via streaming through the Council web site.

The number of speaker spots available for the public hearings is limited. Those interested in testifying can sign up online or by calling 240.777.7803.

For residents who speak a language other than English, special arrangements for interpretation services can be made for either those testifying or those attending. Arrangements must be made at least 48 hours in advance at 240.777.7931.
