County Council to Consider Airbnb Regulations

The Montgomery County Council holds a public hearing Tuesday night on short-term rentals, an effort to regulate Airbnb and similar services that allow homeowners to rent out portions of their homes for short periods.

The council is considering changes to the county’s hotel regulations and licensing to bed-and-breakfast establishments. The hearing takes place at 7:30 p.m. in Seventh Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building, 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville.

The council’s Planning, Housing and Economic Development Committee plans a worksession on the proposals on Monday, Sept. 18. The staff reports on the proposals are here and here.

Before the council’s Tuesday session, members will interview the county’s new health officer, Dr. Travis Gayles. And the council will interview candidates for the Board of Appeals.

The agenda for the council’s session, which begins at 1:30 p.m., is here.

One Response to “County Council to Consider Airbnb Regulations”

Is there a reason that an announcement such as “County Council to Consider AirBNB Regulations” fails to state the date of the meeting? “…Tuesday night…” says little. There are at least four to five Tuesday’s in every month.
    Please be specific. Thank you.
