County Council Candidates to Take Part in Transportation Forum
In advance of the June 24th primary, Montgomery County Council candidates will gather Thursday evening to answer questions and share their ideas on the always hot topic of transportation and land use in Montgomery County. A particular focus of the forum will be on sustainable, equitable and competitive solutions for the growing county.
WHO:
- All candidates for County Council were invited to participate. Confirmed candidates include Roger Berliner and Duchy Trachtenberg from District 1, Ryan Spiegel and Sidney Katz from District 3, Tom Hucker, Chris Barclay, Evan Glass, Terrill North, and Jeffrey Thames from District 5, and George Leventhal, Nancy Floreen, Hans Riemer, Marc Elrich, Robert Dyer, Shelly Skolnick, Beth Daly, and Tim Willard for At-Large.
- WAMU transportation reporter Martin Di Caro will moderate the event.
- Organizers of the event include the Coalition for Smarter Growth, Purple Line Now, Action Committee for Transit, Montgomery County Sierra Club, Montgomery Countryside Alliance, Washington Area Bicyclists Association, the TAME Coalition, and the Montgomery County Young Democrats.
WHAT: Educational County Council candidate forum on transportation and land use issues in Montgomery County. Since some of the organizing groups are 501(c)3 non-profits, this is strictly an educational event and will not involve the endorsement of any candidates for office.
