Montgomery Community Media in partnership with the League of Women Voters presented the Montgomery County Executive Council At-Large candidates forum moderated by Don Mooers, Monday, Oct. 13.
The Montgomery County Council At-Large candidates who participated in the forum were: Marc Elrich, Nancy Floreen, George Leventhal, Hans Riemer, Robert Dyer, Chris P. Fiotes, Jr, Adol T. Owen-Williams, II, Shelly Skolnick and Tim Willard.
The forum was streamed live on the MyMCMedia.org website and taped in the MCM studios and will be televised on Montgomery Channel 21 at a later date.
You may watch the forum in its entirety here:
I have lived in Montgomery County since 1981, working as a consultant in the nuclear energy and safety arenas. I have always been an advocate of a second bridge across the Potomac, and possibly a third one since simply extending I-370 across the river would not alleviate some of the upper I-270 traffic.
The only candidate that supports this common sense matter is Robert Dyer, so he gets my vote.
I also see the terrible waste of resources in trying to give benefits to people who simply live on handouts rather than improving their situation, so Adol T. Owen-Williams, II also gets my vote since he seems to really understand how wasteful we are and is willing to address this issue in several areas.
Finally, Nancy M. Floreen gets my vote since she understands that the details are the real challenge and she has been into that for years in the planning arena.
I will not cast a 4th vote, primarily to avoid encouraging any further well-meaning waste of all the tax dollars the county collects.
