County Candidate Financial Disclosure Requirements

An individual seeking to be a candidate for Montgomery County Council or Montgomery County Executive must file a financial disclosure report no later than Feb. 25 covering the year 2013 and will not be allowed to file a Certificate of Candidacy unless the financial disclosure report has been filed.

If a Certificate of Candidacy was filed prior to Jan. 1, 2014, a candidate is required to file a supplemental financial disclosure report covering the year 2013 no later than Feb. 27.

A current Montgomery County employee seeking election to these positions is not exempt from filing by these February dates, even though the employee may be required by the County’s Public Ethics Law to file an annual financial disclosure report by April 15. Failure to file a financial disclosure report as required can result in termination of a candidacy. Questions regarding the requirements to file financial disclosure by candidates should be directed to the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

Candidates and those seeking to be candidates for positions in Montgomery County other than those listed above are also required to meet certain financial disclosure requirements. Further information can be obtained from the County Board of Elections.
