County: 99.6% of Vaccine First Doses Received Have Been Administered
The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services has received a total of 27,000 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine so far. Local health officials say 99.6 % of that total have been administered as of Jan. 21.
During his weekly COVID-19 virtual media briefing on Thursday, County Executive Marc Elrich stressed ongoing issues regarding vaccine allotments from the state. He says although there’s a shortage, the doses are rolling out as the county gets them.
“We need a larger allocation from the state to meet our population,” said Elrich.
In addition, the county has started to pre-register residents to receive the vaccine once it becomes available. More than 75,000 people have signed up for alerts, according to Elrich. Vaccine pre-registration for residents 75-years-and-older is available now and will begin administering as early as next week, local health officials say. The county is currently moving into Phase 1B of the vaccination process based on sufficient supply.
