Councilmember George Leventhal Winds Down His Term as President (VIDEO)

Montgomery County Council President George Leventhal’s term as Council President ends on Dec. 1. At his weekly briefing on Nov. 30, Leventhal recapped some of the highlights of the past year. He also fielded questions from reporters about the Department of Liquor Control, Montgomery County Public Schools, homeless vets, Syrian refugees and his future plans.

During the briefing, Leventhal passed out a two-page handout that summarized the Council’s accomplishments in 2015. The list of highlights included action on social justice issues, economic development, consumer protection, environmental action, doing business in the county, good government, public health and housing, fiscal responsibility and veteran services.
