Council Committees to Discuss Inclusion of Child Care Space

The Montgomery County Council’s Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee and its Education Committee are scheduled to discuss on March 12 the inclusion of child care space in major school construction projects.

Montgomery County Council BuildingAccording to a press release, officials from the County’s Department of Health and Human Services, Montgomery County Public Schools, and the Office of Management and Budget will participate in this worksession.

During past discussions, committee members expressed the need to understand the community demand for quality child care services and come up with a methodology for adding child care space in schools.

HHS Committee is chaired by County Council President George Leventhal and includes Councilmembers Roger Berliner and Craig Rice. The Education Committee is chaired by Councilmember Craig Rice and includes Councilmembers Marc Elrich and Nancy Navarro.

The meeting will take place at the Seventh Floor Hearing Room of the Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Avenue in Rockville.
