Costco Limits Members to Bringing Only One Guest Beginning Friday

Beginning Friday, April 3, Costco will allow only two people – a member and one guest – to enter the store at a time.

The changes were made for the safety of members and employees and to help with social distancing, according to Costco.

Costco has been getting a lot of attention recently due to their very crowded stores. Many people have been rushing to buy large quantities of food and other necessary supplies in light of the pandemic.

“We’ve increased our protocols in sanitizing surfaces, including shopping cart handles, merchandise shelves, front-end belts and registers,” said President and CEO Craig Jelinek, in a letter sent to members. “Our buyers and suppliers are working to ensure in-demand merchandise as well as everyday favorites are available in our warehouses.”

In addition to limiting the number of people who enter their store, Costco also has special hours for people ages 60 or older or for those with physical impairments. The store is open from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday for those who meet this criteria to shop.
