Coronavirus Prompts Alternative Fourth of July Celebrations

COVID-19 has forced many Fourth of July celebrations to cancel or go virtual, and Montgomery County is urging residents to celebrate at home. To help the county do so, County Cable Montgomery, MyMCMedia’s PEG Parter, will stream events at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 3.

“United Montgomery, Stronger Together” will have local music highlights, messages from elected officials and a fireworks show that residents can watch while celebrating the holiday at home. The county has already canceled two in-person celebrations, “Germantown Glory” and “Mid-County Sparkles.”

Leading up to the holiday weekend county officials have also been reminding residents that fireworks are illegal for personal use.
