Here are five things to know today, April 21, in Montgomery County:

1. A job search strategies workshop starts at 11 a.m. at the Silver Spring Library. County libraries are collaborating with Washington Career Services to present three workshops that provide tools to help job seekers in today’s competitive job market.

2. The Montgomery County Council continues its review of the fiscal 2018 operating budget, poring over the spending plans for Montgomery County Public Schools, the Public Election Fund and the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC). Hearings are at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

3. The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival starts at 10 a.m. at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg. Free parking. Adults
$8 to $10.

4. The Bethesda Literary Festival starts at 3:30 p.m. in Downtown Bethesda. Managed and organized by the Bethesda Urban Partnership, the festival features an array of local and national authors, journalists and poets, as well as writing contests and children’s events. All events are held throughout downtown Bethesda and are free. The festival continues on Saturday and Sunday.

5. A wine and art party starts at 7 p.m. at the Gaithersburg Arts Barn. Learn a bit about an artist, style or medium; enjoy a glass of wine; and make your own masterpiece. Workshop includes one drink ticket. There will be additional wine and beer for sale. ID required. To register, visit here.
