According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. Signs of Domestic Violence
- Physical Abuse: IE:Hitting, Slapping, Kicking,
- Verbal Abuse: IE:Constant criticism, Mocking,
- Sexual Abuse: IE:Forcing sex
- Isolation:IE: Controlling where the victim goes, Destroying the victim’s passport
- Coercion:IE: Making the victim feel guilty
- Harassment:IE: Following or stalking
- Economic Control:IE: Refusing to give the victim money
- Abusing Trust:IE: Lying, Being overly jealous
- Threats and Intimidation: IE:Threatening harm to victim or children
- Emotional Withholding: IE: Not respecting the victim’s feelings, and opinions
- Destruction of Property:IE: Throwing or breaking things
- Self-Destructive Behaviors:IE: Threatening self-harm or suicide
