Gaithersburg Museum Collects Damaged U.S. Flags

An American flag that has become worn, tattered or damaged beyond repair requires proper disposal, with burning being the preferred method according to U.S. flag code.

Through June 10, the Gaithersburg Community Museum is accepting worn or damaged U.S. flags to be turned over to the American Legion Post 86 for a respectful retirement.

The Community Museum is located at 9 South Summit Avenue.  It is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  For more information, call 301.258.6160, or visit www.gaithersburgmd.gov/museum.
