City of Gaithersburg to Test Shoot Fireworks (PHOTO)

fireworks for slider 450x280UPDATED The skies of Gaithersburg will be sparkling with fireworks tonight.

The City is scheduled to test shoot five fireworks and the shells will launch from Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm. This is the new location for the City’s Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks on July 4th. You may remember in the past the fireworks show took place at the Montgomery County fairgrounds.

According to a news release, the new location of the fireworks will allow “spotters” throughout Gaithersburg the opportunity to determine the best viewing locations. Officials will collect information that will be analyzed.

The City will then create a map, which will be available on the City’s website showing the best locations to watch fireworks on July 4th.

Officials are asking that residents look skyward tonight at 8:30 p.m. and then send feedback indicating your location and what you were able to see by May 27th.

The feedback will be used in the City’s analysis. You can email city officials at cityhall@gaithersburgmd.gov or share information on the City’s Facebook page or on Twitter @GburgMD.
