City of Gaithersburg to Host 5th Annual Sports Fest for Youth

The City of Gaithersburg will host its fifth annual Sports Fest at Bohrer Park, 506 South Frederick Avenue, on July 15.

Youth entering grades K through 8 will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports and activities free of charge.

“This is a celebration of youth sports in our community to show the benefits of participating in a youth sports program,” Dave Ludington, recreation program supervisor for Gaithersburg Sports said. “It’s also a way to expose that we [City of Gaithersburg] have a youth sports program.”

Volleyball, tennis, an inflatable basketball court and baseball are just a few activities that kids will have the opportunity to participate in.

Members from the Gaithersburg Giants baseball team and WSSC is partnering with the city’s sports department this year. WSSC is expected to teach participants about clean water.

Kickoff for the Sports Fest begins at 8:30 a.m. with a 1K Fun Run through the park.

The event will take place rain or shine.  Click here for more information.
