Charter Review Commission to Discuss Term Limits on Aug. 24th
The Montgomery County Charter Review Commission (CRC) is scheduled to discuss a proposed Charter amendment to limit County Councilmembers and the County Executive to three consecutive terms at a meeting tomorrow.
The County Council asked the CRC to consider the merits of the proposed amendment, and on Aug. 2 adopted a resolution placing it on the November ballot, where voters will be asked to approve or disapprove it.
The CRC meeting begins at 8 a.m. and it will be held in the Seventh Floor Hearing Room of the County Council Office Building at 100 Maryland Avenue in Rockville.
All meetings of the CRC are open to the public and residents are invited to make comments on the business of the CRC at the start of each meeting. Comments supporting or opposing the term limits proposal can be made at the Aug. 24 meeting or via email.
Residents who plan to attend the meeting and who wish to speak are asked to inform the CRC in advance via email.
Some members of the CRC may submit documents to support their position on term limits. Residents can request copies of the documents in advance.
To inform the CRC that you will be attending and intend to offer comments at the meeting, to offer comments via email or to request advance, contact the CRC at: charterreview.commission@montgomerycountymd.gov.
