Changes to Senior Lunch Program

Montgomery County’s Senior Lunch Program will be adding new features starting August 1. The Senior Lunch Program serves approximately 95,000 meals a year Monday through Friday at senior housing sites, senior centers and community centers throughout Montgomery County. All Montgomery County residents over age 60 may participate in the program. The Department of Health and Human Services’ Aging and Disability Services administers the Senior Nutrition Program.

The program will unveil a new menu on August 1. Seniors will be able to enjoy a choice of a hot or cold meal, a monthly baked potato bar, a monthly sub sandwich bar and special holiday menus as part of the Senior Lunch Program. The new menus will be offered at the 17 locations currently serving senior lunches. Meals are served Monday through Friday.

We are excited about the new changes to the program. We look forward to offering more choices for residents and we encourage everyone to try our new offerings,” said Melanie Polk, director of the Senior Nutrition Program.

People 60 years of age and older and their spouses of any age are eligible to participate. Donations for the meal are encouraged. They are voluntary and anonymous and are used to provide more meals. Seniors may bring guests. Those under 60 years pay full price for the meal.
