Champion of Change

Silvia Rodriguez Macdonald, an ESOL teacher at Lois P. Rockwell Elementary School in Damascus, was recognized by the Montgomery County Council on Oct. 9 after she was recently named a “Champion of Change” by the White House and the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics. Champions of Change are honored for doing extraordinary things in their communities and for promoting the teaching profession. The Council honored Ms. Rodriguez-McDonald as part of its ceremonies saluting Hispanic Heritage Month. To her left are Council Vice President Nancy Navarro and Councilmember Craig Rice, who presented her with a proclamation on behalf of the Council.
